MOSCOW, Oct 31 (PRIME) -- Russia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.8% in January–September and by more than 5% on the year in September, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Tuesday.

"The GDP increase stood at 2.8% in the first nine months, this is a preliminary estimate of the Economic Development Ministry. In September alone the rise was almost twice as high, more than 5% on the year," Mishustin said.

The Russian economy has passed a period of adaptation and is to expand in 2023 overall, the official said adding that the oil and gas sector is still contracting.
